“My goal is to encourage young girls to follow their dreams through stories.”
I have loved stories for as long as I remember, and I have always devoured the comics that my grandparents used to give me when they came and visited us in the south of France. But I had one problem: Most stories were about boys, and a lot of the stories about girls were quite stereotypical. As a teenager, I forgot about comics, but my passion got reawakened at university when I found out about webcomics. Soon after, in 2014, I started my first comic and I never looked back.
These days, my passion is making comics that encourage young girls to follow their own dreams, and I have since finished several short stories. They have a wide range of themes, genres, and styles, but mostly they center around girls and woman, and their stories. You can find more about all of them here.
On a more personal note, I was born in Belgium, and went to primary school in France, before moving back to Belgium for high school. After university, I lived and worked in New Zealand for 5 years. That means I speak English, Dutch and French, but you will no doubt catch me using a mix of the first two. These days, I work and live in Ghent, Belgium, together with my husband, Stijn, our tabby cat, Feijoa, and our baby boy, Luca. There we share a studio (and napping space).
Back in the days, I completed my Masters in Psychology, though I’ve always been writing and drawing on the side. That’s why I couldn’t help but also study at the Academy for Visual Arts in Ghent for six years, following both “Draftsmanship” and “Illustration and Visual Storytelling” degrees.
